United Methodist Women and Circles
The organized unit of United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
The United Methodist Women's responsibilities include overseeing and caring for the Allegan UMC Kitchen. To use the church kitchen for special events, permission must be granted by UMW and UMW personal must be on site. The ‘rental’ of dishes and/or cooking equipment must have board approval as well.
The UMW is also responsible for:
- Yearly Health Dept. License
- Kitchen cleaning
- All cookware, dishes and kitchen supplies
- Coffee hour schedule and supplies
- Yearly UMW pledge to conference
- Layette Kits
- Bereavement Committee (funeral luncheons)
- Camp Scholarships
- Gifts for High School Graduates
- Shut-ins
- Memorials
- Pastor's discretionary fund
The UMW holds various events throughout the year, including:
- Lenten Suppers - Each Circle provides a light supper before one of the Lenten services.
- The Mother/Daughter Banquet - An evening of fellwoship, fun, dinner and entertainment. The program and meal sponsored by UMW Board and Circles.
- Graduation Breakfast - A breakfast is served to each year's church family high school graduates and their family members, plus each grad is presented with gift from the UMW.
- The Bazaar - This is a yearly money making event held on the first Saturday in December. It is a big money maker which helps to generate funds for the UMW's missions and general budget.

Circles
The Allegan United Methodist Women meet as an executive board and also as Circles of fellowship, study, and mission. There are three different circles of women in the congregation.
- The Sarah Circle: Chairperson - Judy Jennings, 26 active members
- The Mary Martha Circle, Chairperson - Mary Jane Garvin, 26 active members
- The Sonshine Circle, Chairperson - Lori Barber, 8 active members
